DENVER
resistance to theory
Traditional cinemas seek to create a distinction between reality and fiction by distancing the theater from the street and creating strong thresholds. This project aims to obscure these boundary lines by connecting the building intimately with the site's context. The experience is one of having never have arrived at a destination but rather creates a continuous participation. Conceptually, the process of being brought in and released simultaneously and perpetually results in not knowing where reality ends and fiction begins.

The cinema addresses a prominent corner at 14th and Larimer street in downtown Denver. The initial diagram establishes a connection between the city and the site. The arrows represent both the drawing in and releasing of space and carries on in three dimension into every aspect of the design. The journey of the exterior is echoed on the interior, creating a series of moments that culminate at the theater.
